The Oct. 20 front-page article “ Key Trump 2020 ally enters a guilty plea ” reported that Sidney Powell, a co-defendant of former president Donald Trump , pleaded guilty in her Georgia election-interference case. Fox News commentators Sean Hannity and Laura Ingraham had hosted Ms. Powell on their programs and allowed her to repeatedly espouse election-fraud conspiracy theories. However, both commentators engaged in private texting and emailing, since publicized, that revealed their absolute nonbelief in the theories promulgated by Ms. Powell. The law allows journalists to report on false claims, but they should not promote them, as Mr. Hannity and Ms. Ingraham clearly did, without incurring liability. Why are Mr. Hannity and Ms. Ingraham still on the air?
